I really don't want to read another 1000 page book, and to be honest I'm not real excited about relearning PHP - it feels like a step backward from asp.net. But it'll be good for those times when the client is stuck on using some php app.
Try PHP with a framework, like symfony or Cake, and you might change your tune. Although it's worth noting that learning those frameworks can take quite some time... Symfony has a nice 1 hour tutorial showing you how powerful it is though.
