[MAMP] Problemi con htaccess.txt

Salve,
su MAMP PRO 3.1 ho caricato Joomla 3.4 impostando Sistema->Configurazione Globale->Riscrivi URL SEF: sì
il risultato è che, aprendo una pagina, mi dà 'Not Found'. Ho provato così a modificare il file htaccess.txt in .htaccess, tuttavia essendo su Mac (Yosemite) mi dà questo errore: 'Non puoi utilizzare un nome che inizia con un punto "." perché questi nomi sono riservati al sistema. Scegli un altro nome.'

Cosa posso fare?
